Top 5 Muslim entrepreneurs to look out for
With the rise of the entrepreneurship era and Muslim women from all across the globe jumping on the bandwagon, today, I wanted to highlight my top 5 Muslim Entrepreneurs to look out for.
Not only are these women contesting the limitations of society but they are shining while proving all the nay-sayers wrong. These women are the definition of hardworking Boss Ladies.
So, without further ado, here are my top 5 favourite Muslim entrepreneurs:
MELANIE FROM HAUTE HIJAB
Founding Haute Hijab on Ihsaan, Melanie, along with her husband and co-founder Ahmed, continued to build an empire. They decided that it was high time for an American Hijab brand that is perfect in every way.
Haute Hijab strives to provide high-performance hijabs that is sustainable and perfect for every occasion. In 2018, Haute Hijab released a luxury collection which was featured Elle, Glamour, Vogue Arabia and many more media publications. Talk about an inspiration!
I am not only a big fan of her work but I really love her style! Melanie is setting the standard for the rest of us Muslim entrepreneurs to follow suit.
ANGIE FROM LEENA’S HIJABS
Being frustrated with tacky hijab’s for little girls, Angie decided to introduce the fashionable one-piece Hijabs for girls between the ages of 5-14. Going for high quality, fashionable, easy-to-wear and comfortable hijabs, Angie wanted to inspire little girls to feel confident and look radiant.
Looking back at how empowered her daughter felt when she designed her own Hijab, Leena’s Hijabs even has a “design-your-own-hijab” option for little girls to create their unique hijabs that they can feel confident in.
Watching my daughters grow up so quickly, I definitely want my daughters to feel confident and look exceptional and this fashion-forward Muslim mom entrepreneur definitely delivers!
NOORA FROM SITTI SOAP
Noora Sharrab and Jacqueline Sofia built the foundation of a social enterprise that aims to educate, employ and empower women in Jordan’s Jerash “Gaza” Refugee Camp. They are committed to providing fair wage employment to its all-female staff while providing financial and in-kind support to several beneficiary programs that contribute towards the enterprise's social mission.
What began as a signature square bar of soap quickly expanded to a line of over ten popular skincare and home good items. Recently, it has expanded into a multi-national brand that can be found in retail stores across the Middle East and North America.
If writing a blog post about why you should get meaningful gifts like Sitti Soap for your loved ones is not enough to convince you how inspiring this woman is then I don’t know what is!
EVA FROM HANDMADE BEGINNINGS
Having 3 little ones that need to be occupied all the time, I really look up to women who are all about education and learning experiences specific to Muslim children. Founded in 2019 by Evangeline, who started out as a blogger where she shared fun educational activities and crafts that she did with her toddler, Handmade Beginnings was born.
They offer online classes and fabric toys that are designed in Canada and lovingly made in Turkey by Syrian refugee women. The crafting of their toys supports educational programs for Syrian children and vocational programs for women.
Eva is making waves in the entrepreneurial world with her fun DIYs, tutorials and printables for children.
ANEESA FROM EASTERN TOYBOX
Growing up exposed to different cultures of the East and West, Aneesa wanted to instil that in her kids too. Striving to keep the connection to her roots, Aneesa took a keen interest in the learning tools and visual aids that would be the best fit for a classroom and at home.
Seeking to blend “Western treasures with an Eastern Twist”, Aneesa launched Eastern Toybox which is a unique product line that caters to environmentally and socially conscious individuals. Their items are eco-friendly and ethically responsible toys for your kids to play with.
Look out for these boss ladies and give them a follow.
