Ramadan Social Media Hacks

These are a reminder to myself, first and foremost.

May Allah allow us to make the most of our limited time here.

1.Check Your Intention

Am I posting this because I look pretty and I want people to say so? Or am I posting this because it has something to do with a program or product I’m selling, sharing value, and overall bringing people closer to Allah? It either has an intention for Allah, or it doesn’t. It IS black & white. Nobody is perfect…but be mindful of who you follow.

2. Remember Who You Worship

Ask yourself: “who do I worship?” I know. It’s obvious. You worship God. But do you also “worship” IG likes and reel views and follower count? Do you spend more time and energy strategizing how to increase those things than you do on increasing your rank with God? Do you even have a strategy for increasing that? You can’t worship more than the One. Be careful.

3. Mute or Unfollow

Use the mute or unfollow button as needed. If somebody’s content is making you sad, anxious, or stressed then take action to remove it from your life as best you can. Act fast, before you start resenting the person for something they didn’t intend (but can still be harmful). Also…if you think your own picture-perfect depiction of life might instill these feelings in others, check yourself.

4. Reflect Before You React

We are imperfect human beings who make mistakes. Nobody wants to be called out but sometimes it can be that much-needed humble pie. Reflect upon it and get to know yourself better.

5. Stop the Judgement

Let’s stop shaytan in his tracks by making a pact to stop the judgment. Whether it’s how someone is decorating or not decorating for Ramadan, what they’re wearing, or how they live their life. Unless it is your close friend or family member, your advice can be taken as offensive or mean. It seems extreme, but you would never want to be the reason why someone leaves Islam.

The prophet said: “Part of the perfection of a person’s Islam, is his leaving that which is of no concern to him or her.”
